A delightful film that centers around 2 objects, a black box and a rainbow rock that grants wishes. The film speaks to our tyranny of placing material things over human relationships. We all do it from time to time. This film reminds us of what we already know: Do the human thing!

I must admit that I was really hoping this film would do well at the box office. Great cast, and a story that connects with the current recession. But it did not open to a very big audience. I felt sad. The studio must have known this because of when and how it was released. Nevertheless, I think it was a timely film, that connects with so many people's experience.

Quentin Tarantino said “I like that it’s the power of the cinema that fights the Nazis. But not just as a metaphor, as a literal reality.” This may be the first popular film to explore how the power of media was used against the evil Nazi regime. The power of cinema is powerful.

The film is about revenge against the Nazis. What we have here is the Dietrich Bonhoeffer problem. He was a major Christian theologian who came to the conclusion that in order to stop the killing of millions of people, Hitler needed to die. He believed he had a moral and spiritual obligation to supersede the usual “turn the other cheek” ideal. How do you come down on this issue? In Inglourios Bastards there is no question what they feel their mission is.

The great civil rights leader, the Martin Luther King Jr. wisely said that we must develop “a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.” What would such a method be, in light of the fact that the world suffers from Adolph Hitler types on occasion?

This is a film about the transcending power of love in relationship to time. The need for an extraordinary relationship yet ordinary. This film speaks to the paradoxical relationships in life we all have, that we crave and need, yet despise and reject! Bottom line of this film is: If you have an extraordinary relationship, hang on to it and watch it transcend time.

Well we all knew it would happen! AEG Live (the people doing the stage production) had all this footage of the rehearsals, and after a small snippet was played over and over again on CNN, somehow we knew a movie would be in the works. And so it is!
